Great space created with SFK82 composite bi-folding doors for growing family
Until a couple of years ago this 1890’s Buckinghamshire home had a small ugly draughty 1960’s built extension. Mr & Mrs Habel decided the time had come to remove the extension so Mr Habel decided to take the task on and manage the project himself.
The aim was to achieve a larger kitchen and living area together with a downstairs cloakroom to accommodate the growing family that was 2… and is now 5!
The family chose to use Sunfold’s surveying service. Designs were put in place for a 3 panel set of SFK82 folding sliding doors. The SFK82 is a system that combines a solid section of timber to the inside with aluminium cladding to the outside.
To complement the folding sliding doors a 3 panel set of SFK82 windows were added; 2 of the windows are fixed and the other are tilt and turns, all of which have manual venetian blinds.
The exterior finish of the windows and doors in aluminium is powder coated with DB703 dark metallic grey with clear lacquered oak on the internal side which complements the oak flooring and skirting. On the external walls of the extension the walls are clad with cedar cladding from Silva Timber Products to marry the old and new seamlessly.
The family continue to use their additional space all year through by bringing the outside inside in the summer months and keeping the cold outside in the winter. Additional space has been gained yet the cost of heating has been reduced since the extension has been complete. Due to the efficient folding sliding doors and windows, a more consistent ambient temperature has been achieved.
