folding doors
sft60 specification and details
SFT60 folding sliding doors create an open, flexible and modern space for both living and working environments. An ideal solution for sunrooms, conservatories & swimming pools. Also ideally suited for commercial situations including pavement cafés, restaurants, balconies and car showrooms.
The SFT60 system has slighter larger sight-lines (116mm) and a few less options than the SFK70 system. However, the cost saving in using this system over the SFK70 system is approximately 8%, making it ideally suited for use by the trade.
SFT60 doors comply with revised (April 2006) part of Document L Building Regulations.
Dimensions
Panels up to 3000mm high can be hinged together in long 'trains' to open up 90% of an elevation. The maximum panel width is 1000mm (for heights up to 2300mm). Panel heights over 2400mm will require a horizontal transom in each panel for stability.
Security
Intermediate panels joints are held securely by internal shoot bolts top and bottom. These are operated via a flat sprung handle available in black or white. End panels and pass doors are fitted with a 3-point locking mechanism that meets insurance companies' requirements.
Weather seals
Unique continuous vertical magnetic seals front and back are not broken by the hinges to ensure draft free year round comfortable living. In addition, double rubber sweep gaskets act in compression to provide a severe weather rated panel system (to DIN18055 group C)
Appearance
Adjustable aluminium frames can be coloured to suit your tastes. Standard finishes include silver anodised (EV1) and polyester powder coated white (RAL 9010 or 9016), cream (RAL 1013), dark green (RAL 6005), light grey (RAL 7040), dark grey (RAL 7016) and brown (RAL 8017). Wood-grain and stone effect foil finishes are also available upon request.

Glazing
Sealed glazed units up to 28mm can be accommodated in the SFT60. Our standard 24mm unit comprises two panes of 4mm clear toughened glass with a thermally efficient, argon gas filled 16mm cavity. The inner pane is equipped with a thermally efficient Low E coating. Units are manufactured to BS6206a and BS5713. Many solar control, tinted glasses and self-cleaning options are available. We can also offer Venetian or pleated blinds in a variety of colours which sit within the glazing cavity - please see http://www.pellini.net/ for further information.
Stacking / Folding
Panels can be stacked inside or outside of the room, to the left, right or split to stack on both sides. Where odd numbers of panels are used, the last panel in the 'train' is furnished as a secure pass door with lever handles both sides for daily use.
Suspension
Panels can be top hung (suspended) or bottom rolling (floor supported). The SFT60 system also offers a low threshold version of the track, which is easily fixed directly onto the floor meeting requirements of Document M (this is only available in bottom rolling systems).
Ancillaries
Transom rails and solid (non-glazed) panels can be incorporated into your door design.
Ventilation
Ventilation can be offered in 2 ways;
- In-glazed vents, which are situated above the glass at the head of the panel - see http://www.rwsimon.co.uk/airstrip_300.htm for further information.
- Tilt turn panels are also available in inward opening 'trains' of panels. These do affect the appearance of the door set as there is a heavier sightline around the tilt turn panel.
Windows
We can offer tilt turn or fixed windows to complement our system.
Opening in tilt and turn windows offer multi-functional use through one single operating handle. When the handle is moved to the "tilt" position the vent opens in at the top allowing a source of ventilation. When the handle is moved to the "turn" position the window is hinged on either left or right and opens to the inside for an unobstructed view, complete ventilation & to make cleaning easy.
Tilt turn windows also comply with the Scottish Building regulations that state, "Any window or part of a window more than 4m above the adjacent ground should be constructed so that its internal and external glazed surfaces can be cleaned safely from inside the building".
